Founded in 1987, by John Stewart, Construction Cost Engineering (Bahamas) Ltd. has developed into one of the leading construction consultancies in the Bahamas.

The company's prime background is in Quantity Surveying (sometimes referred to as Cost Engineering in North America), with the principal and senior surveyors having solid working experience formerly within the field of contracting and now within private practice both overseas and in the Bahamas. 1959-1968    - Initial training with E.C. Harris & Partners Chartered Quantity Surveyors, London, England; together with study at the Brixton School of Building, London, England; subsequently with Widnell & Trollope, Chartered Quantity Surveyors, London, England and their Australian Office for three (3) years. Arrived in Nassau in 1968.

1968 - 1978    - Quantity Surveyor with Denis Hingston, Widnell & Trollope now known as The Denis Hingston Partnership, Nassau, N.P. Bahamas.

1978 - 1987    - Chief Quantity Surveyor and Construction Cost Engineer responsible for all projects for Carl G. Treco Contractors Ltd., Nassau, N.P. Bahamas.

1987 - Present    - President of Construction Cost Engineering

(Bahamas) Ltd.  operating on a consultancy basis to clients as Construction Cost Engineer, Quantity Surveyor, Project Manager and Contract Adviser, Nassau, N.P. Bahamas.

EXPERIENCE PRIOR TO RESIDENCE IN THE BAHAMAS -

Three (3) years as Quantity Surveyor with J. Murphy & Sons Ltd., mechanical, building and civil engineering contractors numerous projects (mainly mechanical and civil engineering) in N.W. England.

Two (2) years as Project Quantity Surveyor with Norwest Holst Construction Northern on a large building, civil engineering and mechanical contract at a pharmaceutical

plant in N.W. England. One and a half years (1-1/2) as Area Quantity Surveyor with Cementation Piling and Foundations Ltd. (part of the Trafalgar House Group), Great Britain’s largest piling and Ground engineering company, with responsibility for all projects in N.W. England.

EXPERIENCE IN THE BAHAMAS SINCE ARRIVAL IN 1988

One (1) year    - Quantity Surveyor with Mosko’s United Construction Co. Ltd., Nassau, Bahamas

Five (5) years    - Quantity Surveyor with Sunco Builders and Developers Co. Ltd., Nassau, Bahamas.
